Just What is a Public Insurance Adjuster?

A public adjuster is a licensed and bonded professional who helps policyholders with the insurance claim process when they experience an insured loss.

The insurance claims process is complicated. Your insurance document alone is usually 10+ pages long. Your insurance company has a team of people working for them whose financial interests are best served by convincing policyholders to accept the lowest compensation possible.

When you file a homeowners insurance claim, you need to be comprehensive in identifying the damage and providing the supporting evidence. You need to be skilled as a negotiator as you go up against your insurance company. And you need to do this all while muddying through the emotional rollercoaster that often occurs with damage to your home.

A public adjuster can manage the entire claim process for you. They ensure your claim payout accurately reflects the cost of repairs or replacements, help you understand your coverage, and keep your claim on track.

“Unlike an insurance company adjuster, a public adjuster advocates exclusively for policyholders”, says Tim Cornett, president of the Florida Association of Public Insurance Adjusters.
